The head doctor of the Oni ambassadorial staff on Earth, Dasomiya Uri was amused to learn that her given name (meaning 'strong child' in her local dialect) translates to 'melon' in the local Japanese language, a fact that she has deliberately leaned into to show off certain assets. In spite of her attitudes and the "syrupy-sounding" nature of her accent, she is a competent professional who is ready and able to observe and treat not only her fellow oni, but also the embassy's smaller number of Earthling staff members.

Prioritizing professional ethics over cultural loyalty, Uri took part in helping to hide Lum on Earth by pushing for the princess's right to self-determination in relationships while building her own connection with the PSIA agent Konaya Kokoko, quickly taking to dating the Earthling. Outside of that, she has been involved in the treatment of Embassy staff member Tenjō Utena, keeping an eye on her condition after the young woman contracted a physiology-altering 'Doomsday virus'.
