Los Angeles
The City of Angels; Japanifornia

Los Angeles is the largest city in the US state of California. Events taking place in and around the city have had a profound impact on the history, culture, and legal system of the state.

As a result of 18th century immigration of Japanese citizens to what was then part of New Spain, the cultural character of Los Angeles exemplifies the unique status of California in the United States as being quintessentialy Japanese-American. Owing to strong links to the nation of Japan, Los Angeles is sometimes seen as the 'Twin Sister City' of Tokyo.

The underworld of Los Angeles reflects this heritage as well, with the Kitaki family of Yakuza being major players who often butt heads with the city's resident vigilante superheroes, including Flamebird, Manhunter, and Obsidian. In spite of this, the city's more prominent attorneys are rapidly gaining nationwide fame as allies of justice due to connections to several high-profile cases.
