The hidden valley of Jusenkyō, Qinghai Province, China |
Characters who are empowered by Jusenkyō are enchanted to changes forms when splashed with or immersed in liquid water, adopting a new form when the water is cold or lukewarm, and returning to their natural state when the water is hot. The form in question is that of whatever was first fully immersed in a given pool of water at the site in question; even inanimate objects may grant an actual living form, as is the case with the 'Spring of Drowned Asura', and multiple creatures or objects simultaneously falling in the same spring may create a fused form. This has long been regarded as a disabling curse, but recent discoveries have uncovered the secret that there is more to this power: the form granted by the springs is a metaphysical iconic state embodying the ideal of that which the spring in question imprinted upon. Those who are able to tap into this state through training and meditation may achieve a variety of powers dependent upon the nature of what the spring imprinted upon: at its most basic, they may take on a glamoured state where they appear to be a distinct entity of the same type, such as a person who fell in the 'Spring of Drowned Cat' being able to appear to be one or another individual cats by focusing their mind. |
