"It's time you learn...the true terror of Hidden Weapons!"
The youngest member of a family descended from the cheng-jing Bai Suzhen and the human immortal Xu Xian, Musi has long downplayed his heritage due to a combination of wanting to stand apart on his own terms, and feeling embarassment about the eternally youthful nature of his older relatives. Raised among his mother's Nujie culture, he grew up accustomed to the idea of having to prove himself a catch worthy of a warrior woman. Unfortunately for Musi, he fixated at an early age on Shanpu, the exceptionally talented heiress of one of the village's oldest surviving fighters. Attempting to prove his worth to Shanpu from childhood, he was constantly hampered by his limited eyesight, and found that his best attempts at romance were often thrown off by a combination of mistaking others (even animals and stationary objects) for Shanpu, or grabbing up the wrong item when trying to present her with a gift. A later one of these attempts at winning Shanpu wound up dropping him in the waters of Yāzǐnìquán, cursing him to transform into a duck whenever soaked in cold or lukewarm water, and only restoring his natural form when splashed with hot water.

When Shanpu traveled to Japan to follow the martial artist Saotome Ranma and claim him as her husband, Musi followed after. Over the following year, he made numerous attempts to prove himself Ranma's better through increasingly desperate schemes, all while eking out a living as a part-time employee of the Nekohanten restaurant managed by Shanpu's great-grandmother Kelun as a base for Nujie activities in Tokyo. Initially targeting Ranma's fiancée-by-arrangement Tendō Akane as a hostage to coerce Ranma into surrendering, he gradually developed a sort of camaraderie with the girl that began to blossom into a genuine friendship. Participating in a number of adventures alongside Ranma and Akane (as well as Ranma's other rival/friend Hibiki Ryōga) that were often tied to the waters of Zhòuquánxiāng or potential cures, Musi despaired that he would ever eliminate his curse and win Shanpu's heart.

Amidst all of this, he was surprised to learn that his ancestor's sworn sister Xiaoqing—the Lady Green Snake—had been restored to life and was serving as a member of the Justice League of China, striking up a long-distance bond of student and mentor under his 'Auntie Qing' that eventually led to him being invited to visit to allow her investigate the nature of his curse in-person.

Special Abilities:
  • Immortal Heritage: Musi has yet to reach an age at which it would be confirmed, but his older blood relatives share the characteristic of remaining at the peak of their physical youth for an extended period that may exceed centuries.
  • Linguistics: Musi speaks fluent Mandarin (being capable of code-switching between his native Zhongyuan, and the more broadly recognized Putonghua), Japanese (Tōhoku regional dialect), and Oirat. He can manage conversational Am kä, Monguor, and Yugur due to childhood education, and can communicate basic concepts in Russian, Salar, and English.
  • Martial Arts: in addition to a high degree of training in the wushu of the Nujie-zu, Musi is a master of Ànqì [暗器], known in English as Hidden Weapons, a method of fighting that relies on concealing a number of lethal tools. Musi's mastery of this skill is high enough that he can readily conceal a large number of weapons and tools even in an outfit consisting of a short-sleeved shirt, wristbands, and shorts. He is additionally familiar with many methods of concealing such items from detection even by advanced detection technology, and of utilizing qi mastery to conceal objects in spaces far smaller than should be able to contain them.
  • Peak Human Athleticism: Musi's stamina, durability, and strength are all trained beyond the normal limits of a human physique, allowing him to readily break forged iron and solid rock with bare-handed attacks. He is capable of carrying over 230 kilograms of weight while moving normally, although this may be offset by the total weight of his hidden weapons.
  • Shéjīng Heritage: Musi possesses a portion of snake jing ancestry, which manifests solely in some limited affects on his senses.
    • Heightened Sense of Smell: Musi's olfactory senses are superior to baseline humans.
    • Limited Vision: Musi's eyes are covered by thin transparent scales called 'spectacles' that severely limit his eyesight relative to human norms, requiring vision correction. Under conditions that raise his heartbeat, the blood vessels cosntrict and allow him to see closer to typical human vision.
  • Zhòuquánxiāng Blessing—Duck: Musi is capable of transforming into an outwardly ordinary white-feathered Tsaiya duck when splashed with cold or lukewarm water, while retaining his intellect and ability to conceal his weapons (hiding them beneath his feathers rather than in his clothes).
    • Flight: due to his training, Musi is a stronger flyer by far than most ducks, capable of flying at top speed for sustained periods.
