"You’ve only just started to unlock the true potential of Jusenkyo’s magic. You want to use it to bounce around and be this city’s protector with your little friend with the scarf and bat-ears?"

Allegedly born prior to 1868, little is known for certain about Kělún's early life: whether she was born to the Nǚjié-zú or adopted, she at some point in her youth encountered a Japanese martial artist named Happōsai and trained extensively in the martial arts—even the order of these events is uncertain.
Kělún eventually had at least one child, who had a son named Wànzhàng; a union with a warrior woman named Rinchin produced Kělún's great-granddaughter Shānpú, who she began to train as an heir to her combat skills, having waited fruitlessly for many decades for a suitable warrior to appear. In her great-granddaughter's sixteenth year, a pair of traveling martial artists with a familiar style arrived in the village; recognizing the hand of Happōsai in the skills of the red-haired girl and sensing the power of the Spring of Drowned Woman in her qi, Kělún encouraged Shānpú to pursue the warrior as a test of both youths.

Following Shānpú to Japan on her second trip after a training session resulted in her great-granddaughter receiving a Zhòuquánxiāng enchantment of her own, Kělún firmly settled on Saotome Ranma as the heir to her techniques, and began training him extensively in the skills she had learned over her lifetime.

After taking part in several adventures as an advisor or a warrior herself, Kělún decided that having Ranma marry into the tribe would not be the practical answer, and returned to Qinghai to petition her fellow elders to allow Saotome Ranma to be recognized as Nǚjié.

Lilit Rising
Spoiler Alert! The following contains plot details for the events of lilit rising
On returning to Japan, Kělún recognized Ranma using the blessing of Niángnìquán to patrol the night of Furinkan-cho in a glamoured disguise, and revealed the truth to her: that she too had been enchanted by the waters of Zhòuquánxiāng, and had been using her own blessings to masquerade as Happōsai (after locating his remains to be certain) in order to test Ranma while protecting the streets of Nerima from malefactors in the guise of a criminal herself.

Insisting on starting the next phase of Ranma's training, Kělún privately worried that she may have waited too long to reveal herself, not having guessed at the possibility that Ranma's parentage was stranger than it seemed. She now gambles with the chance that she may have made her own student an enemy, against recognition that the young martial artist and budding heroine learns fastest under pressure. Her worry has become whether she is producing a flawless diamond, or crushing a matchless pearl.

Special Abilities:
  • Linguistics: Kělún speaks fluent Am kä, Arabic, Atlantean, Cantonese, English, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Monguor, Portuguese, Oirat, Qiang, Salar, Tuvan, Yi, Uyghur, Yugur, and Zhongyuan Mandarin.
  • Martial Arts: over her lifetime, Kělún has learned a number of obscure martial arts techniques that defy more common ideas of what can be done without magic or metahuman powers, including the use of unconventional weaponry such as a roughly hewn stick, foodstuffs, or a traditional kiseru pipe.
    • Dhritishastra: Mara—granddaughter of Ra's al Ghul—has alleged that Kělún studied under the Demon's Head in the 'fractally complex' martial art developed by Vandal Savage, in return for training some of his descendants herself.
    • Ganso Musabetsu Kakuto Ryū: Having learned the foundational elements of Musabetsu Kakuto from Happōsai, Kělún is familiar with the core forms preceding what Saotome Genma and Tendō Soun developed independently for their own schools.
      • Happō-Daikarin: a technique involving the rapid construction and hurling of simple fireworks, the explosive effect serves equally well as an attack and a distraction.
      • Happōgoensatsu: Kělún has demonstrated familiarity with the technique the late Happōsai taught to Ninomiya Hinako; whether she is capable of passing it along or using it herself is unclear at this time.
    • Nǚjié Wǔshù: As an elder of the Nǚjié-zú (AKA "Chinese Amazons") of Qinghai, Kělún is a grandmistress of their martial arts, and is familiar with a wide range of obscure techniques, including:
      • Bakusai Tenketsu: the "Breaking Point", which trains its user to resist powerful impacts as well as recognizing the ultimate structural weak points in unliving matter, causing them to explosively break apart when struck with precision.
      • Hiryū Shōten Ha: a technique that creates a powerful upwards vortex by utilizing the difference between an opponent's 'hot' ki of anger and exertion, and the user's 'soul of ice'.
      • Kachū Tenshin Amaguriken: a training technique to improve the speed of hand movements to the point of being able to grab objects bare-handed out of a fire without being burned.
      • Same-ken: a blow that directs water in the form of a giant shark to attack an opponent with overwhelming force.
  • Occultism: Kělún is aware of the existence and usage of a tremendous number of mystical artifacts, substances, and techniques, and keeps a selection of them in hiding.
  • Restaurateur: as the manager of the Nekohanten restaurant, Kělún has demonstrated skills in business management and cooking that allow her to easily set up shop in new locations, including temporarily moving to the beach.
  • Zhòuquánxiāng Blessing—Woman: Kělún's enchantment allows her to easily adopt roles and identities that seem real and distinct from her own body. When this 'glamour' is activated, witnesses perceive her as disappearing, and someone else turning up in her place.
